At it’s centre is my late mum’s handwritten home economics recipe book from the early 1960s —pages worn with use and filled with her distinctive script. Beside them sits a classic, well used 1970s cookbook, its polished design and standardised recipes contrasting with her personal notes. A handwritten alternative version of a chocolate brownie recipe links the two, bridging the personal and the published, the lived and the learned.
